Thomas ''Tom'' Baker was one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. He was portrayed by Max Boast.
He was a geeky student at Moordale Secondary who has recently become sexually active.

Season 1[]
He's often seen playing Runes of Dunbar with his friends. One of their companies was interrupted by Maeve and Otis, who were investigating who sent out the photo of Ruby's vagina (Tom was the main suspect due to the fact they used to date and Ruby's dumped him). During a talk with Otis and Maeve, he tells them he has no phone and Glen Jacobs can be another suspect (Ruby started dating him after she dumped Tom, but after some time she broke up with Glen too).
Then, Otis sees him when he's throwing his phone to the river. Otis approaches him and Tom tells Otis that he only sent the photo to Kyle, because he did not believe him that he had sex with Ruby.

Tom and Ruby dated for a week. Before Ruby dumped him on the pretext that he smelled like crisps but more concretely, she didn't enjoy his company. Frustrated by this, Tom later send her nude photo to Kyle who didn't believe that Tom had sex with Ruby.

Tom and Martha shared a kiss.
Unnamed girl (former sexual partner)[]
A girl, who's currently dating Dex Thompson was Tom's sexual partner, as she revealed to Dex.

- According to Eric, at one of Aimee's parties, Tom drank 14 Jägerbombs and nearly drowned in Aimee's hot tub.[2]
- According to Eric, Tom is captain of the Warhammer Society, giving him the nickname Warhammer Tom.[3]
- In Ruby's opinion, he smells like crisps.
- Despite Tom only appearing in person in season 1, there are some references to him the subsequent seasons; in season 2, one of the members of the Acapella group reveals that she shared a kiss with him, and a girl Dex was dating in season 3 used to sleep with Tom.
- Tom shares a name with the actor Tom Baker, who is most famous for portraying The Fourth Doctor in Doctor Who from 1974-1981. Ncuti Gatwa (Eric Effiong's actor) took over the lead role from in 2023 as the Fifteenth Doctor.
