Tanya was one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. She was portrayed by Alice Hewkin.
She was Ruthie's overbearing girlfriend.

In episode 4, Tanya and her girlfriend, Ruthie, go to Otis for sex advice. He tries to help them but nothing seems to work. Later, when Otis finds out about Ruthie's feelings for her friend, Jessa, Otis advices Ruthie to tell Tanya the truth, which she does later.

Ruthie was Tanya's best friend since they were kids. They came out as lesbians around the same time and figured out they should be in a relationship. Despite they were friend for so many years, it wasn't really working out, so they got advice from Otis, who was convinced there was a problem with their relationship and not sex. Tanya was much more willing to improve their relationship, whereas Ruthie was more indifferent. Later, Ruthie broke up with Tanya due to the fact that she was in love with another girl, Jessa. It is unknown if they are currently friends.

Tanya was very grateful for Otis's advice and tended to be very open to it.
Personality[]
A seemingly overeager energetic lesbian. She is a very optimistic person as shown in episode 4, when she really wants her relationship with Ruthie to work.
