Sean Michael Wiley is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. He is portrayed by Edward Bluemel.
He is Maeve's older brother. He got expelled from high school and became her caretaker after their father left, and their mother got arrested.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
He comes back to Maeve, and befriends with Jackson, who was then Maeve's boyfriend. He also lies to Maeve that he stopped being a drug dealer, whereas he still is. Sean was helping Maeve to get a dress for a school dance, and eventually went to the dance with his sister and Jackson, hoping to find some new clients at his old school. Eventually, he accomplishes his goal, as he sells drugs to Liam, who's depressed after Lizzie turned him down.
In the season 1 finale, he leaves Maeve once again without saying a word.
Season 4[]
Sean comes back to Moordale after learning that his mother overdosed on drugs, she later passes away. Sean also reunites with his sister, Maeve and is in charge of organizing the funeral with her.
During the funeral, Sean makes a speech during which he blames and says the worst possible things about his late mother, which completely upsets Maeve, and they argue. After the funeral and the argument with Maeve, Sean leaves Moordale once again, not letting Maeve know about it. It is unknown where Sean decided to go.

Erin Wiley (mother)[]
Erin is Sean's mother. After Erin started doing and selling drugs, eventually being arrested, she left him and Maeve on their own.
A couple years later, Sean comes to Moordale for his mother's funeral, during which he makes a speech saying some of the horrible things about her. Later, while leaving he just taps the coffin and says "Bye Mum". In reality, Sean was just deeply saddened about her death and is scared of ending up like her; overdosing and alone.
Maeve Wiley (younger sister)[]
Maeve is Sean's younger sister. Sean took care of her in the trailer park after their parents abandoned them. Sean originally attended Moordale Secondary also, but was expelled for disruptive behavior and drug dealing, causing him to abandon Maeve for many months as well. Upon returning, Sean was once again caught selling drugs at the school but Maeve takes the fall for him this time, only for Sean to abruptly leave her yet again.
Sean reunites with Maeve when she comes back from America after hearing about her mother overdosing. The two meet outside the hospital, and later get to know about their mother's death. Later, they in charge of organizing the funeral, after which the siblings has a massive argument as Sean reveals to Maeve that he's afraid of ending up like their mother. He goes away, leaving the funeral ceremony. Later, Maeve is informed by Dodgy Mo that Sean decided to leave Moordale to finally become clean. This was another time Sean left Maeve without saying goodbye.
Elsie Wiley (younger half-sister)[]
Elsie is Sean's younger half-sister. It is unknown if Sean even knows of Elsie's existence.
Friends[]
Mo (friend)[]
Mo is Sean's friend who picks him up from the hospital after his mother passed away. Sean also moves in with Mo for a short time, but eventually decides to move out, as he wants to stay clean, knowing he wouldn't be able to do this in Moordale.
Jackson Marchetti (former friend)[]
Jackson is Sean's former friend. The two lost touch after Jackson broke up with Maeve, who was Sean's younger sister, and Sean left Maeve.
Personality[]
Sean is unreliable and irresponsible. He sold drugs to students at the school dance, and often abandons Maeve without telling her. He seems unable to find a proper job.
Despite this, he deeply cares for his sister and shows affection towards her, even helping her getting a proper dress for the school dance. He seems to have an amicable relationship with Jackson, though it is unclear whether this still continues after Jackson and Maeve broke up.
