Sam is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. He is portrayed by Jonny Amies.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
In the first scene of episode 2, Kate and Sam can be seen in Kate's room having sex. In some moment, Kate wants the lights to be switched off. After doing it, Sam injures himself after dark, making much noise; the two are interrupted by Kate's parents.
Later in the episode, during Aimee Gibbs' house party. Sam comes in to the bathroom where he sees Kate and Otis talking. Sam and Kate have difficulty communicating, so Otis has them sit back to back and say what they like about each other; they finally make up.
In the end of the episode, Kate and Sam pass a note to Otis saying "Thank You" and give him a thumbs up gesture.

Kate (girlfriend)[]
Kate is Sam's girlfriend. The two had problems with pleasing each other's wills when it comes to having sex. Once, Kate wants to have sex with the lights off, whereas Sam wants to see Kate naked. The whole scene ends up with Sam hurting himself after dark, after what Kate's parents enters her room.
The two are therapized by Otis during Aimee's houseparty, which ends up with them finally making up.

Otis Milburn (friend)[]
Kate was Otis' first unofficial successful client he had. The two started talking accidentally after Otis entered the bathroom, where Kate was laying in the bathtub. Then, she started to complain about Sam, when suddenly he came in the bathroom. Otis starts to therapize them and eventually Sam and Kate make up, thanks to Otis' advice.
