Remi Milburn is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. He is portrayed by James Purefoy.
He is Otis's father and Jean's ex-husband who lives in America.
Early Life[]
Jean and Remi did two years of post-graduate studies together, during which Remi asked Jean out 14 times.[2] The two ended up getting married and had Otis. When Otis was a child, he caught Remi cheating on Jean with another woman and revealed it to Jean. The two separated, and Remi moved to America where he began a relationship with Delilah.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
He lives in America with his new wife and two sons. At the request of his ex-wife Jean, he sometimes calls his son from previous marriage, Otis on Skype.
Season 2[]
Remi returned to Moordale and took Otis and Eric camping. However, Remi was not very knowledgeable about camping, and against his son's advice, he decided that they should hike before setting up their tent. They ended up getting lost in the dark and were drenched in the rain. They ended up staying at a hotel, where Remi flirted with Janine. It was later revealed that Remi and Delilah, his wife in America, had split up.

Janine (one-night stand)[]
Janine is a woman who Remi met at a hotel. The two flirted with each other, and it's implied that they slept with each other.
Delilah Milburn (wife; separated)[]
Delilah is Remi's wife, from whom he's separated. Remi has two sons with her.
Due to Remi's sex addiction, he was often cheating on Delilah with other women, which was finally found out by her. This caused her to break up with Remi.
His unnamed patient (hook-up)[]
An unnamed female patient, with whom Remi cheated on Jean. The patient had a crush on Remi and desired to have sex with him. During one of the sessions, she decided to tell him that, which ended up with them having sex in Remi's office. The whole scene was seen by Otis, who later informed his mother about that.
Jean Milburn (ex-wife)[]

Jean is Remi's ex-wife. The two have a son, Otis, together. Remi has a sex addiction, and after Jean learned of Remi's infidelity, the two divorced. Remi moved to America where he had a relationship with Delilah, but ended up cheating on her too.
Family[]
Otis Milburn (son)[]
Otis is Remi's son. Remi abandoned his family after Jean discovered his affair. Remi lives in America and has little contact with Otis, other than video calls. We only see them interacting for a short time in season 1 during a video call. Even though Otis and he seem on good terms, several details suggest that Remi is a negligent, inconsistent and opportunistic father and husband, which will be confirmed during episode 2.5 when Otis then on an excursion with Eric and his father, realizes that Remi didn't come to Moordale for him but only to flee the difficulties of his marriage with his second wife Delilah caused by his untimely infidelity.
We learn during a discussion between him and Jean that this situation is nothing new, Remi being a sex addict. He tells her that this time he's going to get help and that he wants to be a good father, which Jean asks him "for which children". He will nonetheless have the opportunity to start to redeem himself in the eyes of Otis in the season 2 finale, admitting his wrongs and having for the first time an open heart discussion with his son about how to avoid repeating the same mistakes as him. Remi explains that he must stay honest towards the people who like him despite his faults and cherish them.
Overall, Otis is shown to have an incredibly tough relationship with his dad, owing to how he never sticks around for him - preferring to go out for his outside ventures than spend time with him. This eventually led him to ask Jakob if he could become his guardian in the case that his mother died.
His two unnamed sons[]
He cares about them way more than about Otis. It is known that Remi often takes them out of the town for a camping or often hangs out with them.
