History[]
Eric auditions for Swing Band in Episode 3. He performs poorly, but swing band desperately needs a hornist since their French horn player, Leon, has leukemia. He gets in after Lily Iglehart casts the sole vote for him.
In episode 4, the Swing Band plays background music when Jackson sings "Love Really Hurts Without You" by Billy Ocean to Maeve. Eric is offended that he wasn't invited to take part.
In episode 6, the Swing Band rehearse, but Eric's timing is off. Neville is quick to point out that the "rogue metronome" is Eric's fault and says that he is wasting everyone's time. Mr Hendricks tries to cheer Eric up by calling him "E-Man", but Eric, who is already having a bad day, lashes out at him, calling him an alcoholic teacher. He also describes him as tragic and tells him to stop trying to be cool. Eric storms out and Lily follows him.
In episode 2.8, the band played the background music for the Romeo and Juliet play.
In episode 3.2, Hope Haddon watches one of their rehearsals with the Acapella Group, where they sing "F*ck the Pain Away" by Peaches. Afterwards, she requests that Colin Hendricks pick a more appropriate song for the band to perform. However, during the open day in episode 3.7, they perform this song anyway.
