Jem is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. She is portrayed by Bella Maclean.

Jem wasn't good at school and after graduating from high school, she decided not to go to university, but to help her father at the farm.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 4[]
Jem works at her father's farm, giving horse riding classes to kids. After Adam starts his internship there, she befriends him and teaches him how to ride a horse. She's also very kind and supportive to Adam, eventually catching feelings for him. Whereas Adam opens up to her, telling her he's bisexual and he had been dating a guy, Jem decides to ask him out on a date, which he agrees to.

Adam Groff (boyfriend)[]
Adam is a boy that Jem hires to help her with work at farm, so Adam can start his internship. Adam lies to her about knowing how to ride horses, which upsets her but she decides to keep Adam at work. Jem teaches Adam how to ride horses and the two are slowly developing a bond. Before the funeral of Maeve's mother, Adam is stressed as he's going to see Eric for the first time since their breakup. Jem cheers him up, being unconscious that Adam's ex is a boy and fixes his tie, as out of stress, he tied it incorrectly. Adam doesn't tell Jem the truth about his ex.
He decides to do it some time ago, after he feels a little bit more comortable with being bisexual. He tells Jem that his ex is called Eric and Jem appreciates the truth, and what's more, asks Adam out and he agrees. This may imply that Adam and Jem start dating after the season 4 finale.

Jem has a good relationship with her father. After she left school, her father didn't force her to continue her education and allowed her to start working at their farm.
Personality[]
Jem, alike Adam, loves spending time with animals, especially with her horse called Midnight. She is also friendly and understanding, allowing Adam to stay at the farm even though he didn't know how to ride horses or drive cars, which was required.
