Hannah Waddingham (born July 28, 1974) is a British actress and singer. She portrays Sofia Marchetti on Netflix's Sex Education.
Biography[]
Waddingham was born in Wandsworth in London. Her mother, Melodie Kelly, was an opera singer as were both her maternal grandparents.[1] Her mother joined the English National Opera when Waddingham was eight years old, and she grew up around the theatre.[1][2]
Waddingham is a graduate of the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.[3] She has a four-octave vocal range.[4] She started out in dinner theatre, performing in the interactive comedy Joni and Gina's Wedding.[1][5]
Waddingham is known for How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008), Les Misérables (2012), Winter Ridge (2018) and Ted Lasso (2020).
Waddingham was also one of the hosts of Eurovision Song Contest 2023 that took place in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
