Abeo Effiong is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. He is portrayed by DeObia Oparei.
He is Eric's father who expresses concern over his son's flamboyance and clothing choices and fears they will end up getting him hurt.

Season 1[]
He worries about his son Eric.
At the beginning of the season he does not fully accept his sexuality and the way he dresses, but by the season finale, Abeo tells Eric that he's proud of him and looks up to him because of his bravery.
Season 3[]
It is revealed that Abeo worked as an accountant when he lived in Nigeria. At the time, his wife, Beatrice, was engaged to Emeka, who was more successful. To get Beatrice's family to support Abeo and Beatrice's relationship, they lied about Abeo being a successful accountant in the UK.

Beatrice Effiong (wife)[]
Abeo and Beatrice met when Beatrice was dating another guy called Emeka. Then, she decided to dump him in order to get married with Abeo, with whom she fell in love with. Shortly after they got married, the two left Nigeria and moved to Moordale in England, where they started a family.
Eric Effiong (son)[]
At the beginning of the first season, Abeo doesn't like the way Eric behaves and dresses. He thinks that his son should be like a real man. Everything changes after Eric was beaten up by some homophobe and was suspended at school. Then, Abeo convinces that he is proud of Eric and of how brave he is to manifest himself.
